Frequently Asked Questions for an Experienced Outer Banks Wedding Photographer
If you’re the kind of bride who’d rather go barefoot than wear heels, who laughs when the OBX wind steals your veil, and who believes the best moments can’t be staged — welcome home. The OBX was made for you. Because when you get married in the OBX, you don’t just plan a wedding — you surrender to the rhythm of the coast.
Here, love is free. The ocean becomes your backdrop, the dunes your aisle, and the sky your cathedral. You don’t need chandeliers or ballrooms — just the hum of the Atlantic, a few wildflowers, and the people who make your heart feel full. As an OBX wedding photographer, I aim to record this magic — the laughter tangled in salty air, the tender glance when the sun dips behind the dune, the wind-blown chaos that turns into something beautiful and real. This is what makes OBX weddings so unforgettable: they’re not about performance, they’re about presence. Whether you’re eloping in Corolla, celebrating in Elizabethan Gardens, or hosting a barefoot beach ceremony in Old Nags Head, every OBX wedding carries that same wild, romantic energy — timeless, natural, and deeply human.

How far in advance are you booking?
Clients book me 10 – 17 months in advance. If your event is coming up, and you’re still looking for a photographer, it doesn’t hurt to ask if I’m available (252) 770-7174

Where do you live during the year?
I bounce back and forth between North Carolina + New York. I spend about 4 months of the year on the beach, in the OBX. I spend the holidays in NY because that’s where my family lives.

What got you into photography?
I’ve always loved science, tech and gadgets and photography offered all three. I enjoyed turning negatives into positives in the darkrom, and saying a thousand words without opening my mouth to speak. Photography speeks without words, and I like that.

What kid of equiptment do you use?
I shoot film, 35mm, 120 medium format, 4×5, Holga and digital. I use off camera lighting, speedlights, wireless transmitters + receivers and light modifyers. My favorite “go-to” lenses are primes: 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and my 70-200mm.
Old Nags Head, NC
What do you do if it rains during our OBX wedding?
I don’t do anything differently because I can’t control the weather. Bad weather can mess with a girls head – don’t let that happen to you. Weather in the OBX can change every five minutes. Roll with it.
Whalehead, Corolla
Where should we take photos in the OBX?
There’s plenty of gorgeous places to take photos in the OBX like Whalehead in Corolla, Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo, North Carolina Aquaium on Roanoke Island and the beach, of course.
Nags Head Golf Links
Cost of your OBX wedding photography package?
Prices for weddings in the OBX are ubber simple. The fee is $514 per hour, per photographer (minimum of 5 hours). The vast majority of my clients are non-traditional brides and they’re spending $2,570.
