Beautiful Hudson Valley + Catskill Mountain Wedding Photography
A Local Kid Who Left the valley, Learned the Craft, and then Came Back to the valley
Driving through the beautiful Hudson Valley mid fall — windows down, air smelling like nature, warm apple pie and river water — then you already understand why I photograph weddings here. I’m not a transplant. I didn’t just “discover” the Hudson Valley. I grew up on 700 beautiful acres just outside Durham, NY, where I learned how to read weather by watching wind slid across fields and rain crested mountain tops. Before I ever held a camera professionally, I was a kid running through tall grass, catching catfish in my grandpa’s pond, watching fog lift off the hills like it had somewhere better to be.
That sense of place never left me. I carried it with me to Emerson College in Boston, where I studied television and film production. After graduation, I spent years in the TV world — working as a key grip, and later as camera operator for HGTV — learning about light, movement, storytelling, and how to stay calm when a dozen things are all happening at once.
Eventually, though, the Hudson Valley called me back. And when I returned to start my photography business, it was less like a career decision, less like a job interview, and more like fun.
Today, wedding photography in the Hudson Valley isn’t just something I “do.” It’s also home.
Why I Love Photographing Weddings in the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains
The Hudson Valley has a way of wrapping itself around a wedding day. The light here behaves differently. It’s softer and dances through the trees. When it hits a bride’s dress on an overlook, it feels like someone dimmed the rest of the world. With every season in the valley comes a new personality — the spring of mist, summer flowers, fall colors that honestly feels like cheating because they’re so beautiful, and winter snow that turns everything into a quiet stage. These landscapes in the valley are not just a backdrop. They’re part of your story.

Planning a Catskill Mountain or Hudson Valley Wedding?
Let’s Talk. If you’re dreaming of a wedding in the valley or the Catskill Mountains, I’d love to photograph it. These places are my backyard. I grew up here. They shaped the way I see light, color, and people — and it’s the greatest honor to help couples experience it on one of the biggest days of their lives. Whenever you’re ready, reach out. I’d be thrilled to help you with your wedding.
Hudson Valley Wedding Are Better Unscripted
Maybe it’s because I grew up here, but I’ve always believed the Hudson Valley loosens people up. Couples laugh more. Portraits feel less posed. Even the wind has good timing. Whether we’re on a riverbed, under a canopy of birch trees, or tucked beside an old barn that’s seen a few lifetimes, the landscape encourages authenticity.
This valley rewards people who come as they are.

Valley Weather — And Why Experience Matters
The valley is beautiful, and also deeply unpredictable. I’ve seen blue skies turn to rain and clear up in ten minutes, just in time for a golden hour sunset portrait. Clouds can roll down mountains, crash into the valley below and disappear just as quickly. My background in television taught me to control what you can. Adapt to the rest. Whether we’re shooting indoors, outdoors, in full sun, soft rain, or fog rolling in from nowhere, I’m prepared. Lighting, timelines, equipment backups — all of it matters, especially here. And when you choose a Catskills venue, keep this in mind too. The best spots have beauty both inside and out, so the day never hinges on weather.
